Hyundai 5 year warranty

Hi, I have just bought a 2023 Hyundai Tucson Premium, and the dealer told me they have given me a Hyundai Promise 5 year warranty rather than just the 4 remaining years warranty.

However, I've had the vehicle 3 weeks now and I have not yet received any documentation paperwork regarding the warranty from Hyundai, or the breakdown recovery they said is included.
I've also not had paperwork for some extra warranties I took out for tyres, alloys and paintwork.

They said it takes time for Hyundai to set it up on the system, and said rest assured the car is covered by the warranty.

Should it take this long to come through the post and will I get actual paperwork for the warranty etc, or does it just sit on the Hyundai UK database?
Thanks.

Did you give an email address to the supplying dealer ?

If so check your email folders , when I bought my car , everything was sent via email attachments , which of course can be printed out .

My documents turned up ( on a new car ) after a few days.

Hi,

Yes, the dealer has my email address, but absolutely nothing has come through email, spam or otherwise.

At the moment there is nothing to say I have a warranty on the car, or the extra insurances we bought for tyres, bodywork or alloys.
There is also nothing to say we have the Roadside Assistance either.

I can't see why it takes this long to come through.

Presumably you received an order form / invoice / receipt when you bought the car with all the charges detailed ?

Hi, thanks r0n.

Yes, I did receive a Vehicle Order Form that showed the total price of the car, and detailed the Alloy wheels, Cosmetic Repair Insurance and Tyre Insurance (all three year duration) and their costs.

It also listed the 5 YEAR H PROMISE as well.

However it's now 4 weeks and still no paperwork.

Like I said I received paperwork from Hyundai within a few days for a new car , a used car may be different though .

Insurances for alloys etc., might be from other companies so 28 days may be the norm , I'd still chase it up with the dealership .

If you go to the Hyundai website , look towards the bottom of the page and theres a link for ' MyHyundai ' bottom right ( theres various headings Models / offers / electric cars / owners - the link is under ' owners ' ), I'm not sure if that might help you ( if you're not already aware )

Thanks, will look at that.
Email from the dealership today, saying the reason nothing has arrived was because they originally got my email address wrong! They are chasing up the alloys etc insurances which do come from elsewhere.

The odd thing about the 5-year Hyundai Promise Approved Used Car Warranty they agreed to provide, is that they sent me an attachment which they said was the 5 year warranty, but when I opened it, was entitled 'Hyundai EV One Maintenance and Repair Plan"!
I told them I didn't know what that was and that it didn't sound (or look the same when I read the plan) as what I am supposed to get.
I'd never heard of it before.
That's as far as I've got today.

Your situation does not accord with the kind of dealer performance that Hyundai would like potential customers to know about.

Frankly, I think what you have described is wholly unacceptable and shames the dealer whom you should name in order that forum readers who may have an interest in doing business with that dealer may avoid and look elsewhere.

The Hyundai Promise warranty is absolutely not conditional upon subscribing to a service plan although there is much sense in subscribing to a plan as your future service prices will be fixed at current plan rates, providing some inflation-proofing. The only problem I have is that if the workshop staff are as poor at their job as the sales and admin people, perhaps you would be better off at another dealership.

Hi Indalo,

I am beginning to think that the Hyundai EV One Maintenance and Repair Plan may not be a Service Plan at all, but an extension of the Hyundai original 4-year warranty I would normally have been given (as the car is a year old).

Reading the email from them again, it says 'I have attached confirmation of the warranty and had this sent to the correct email address. You will see the policy says 13 months duration, as this will kick in once the original manufacturers warranty expires to offer you the full 5-year cover'.

So perhaps this Hyundai EV One Plan.... is them saying, you have the 4-year warranty that normally comes with the car, but this is a one-year year add-on warranty AFTER the 4-year warranty expires (upon opening the EV One document the start of the plan says 2028, so that would make sense.

Even so, I have not had any documents for the original 4-year warranty, so I don't know. They haven't made it clear at all. I asked someone who had a Tucson from new and he said he didn't receive any actual documents for the Hyundai 5-year manufacturers warranty - it is all on Hyundai systems online.

Still no Tyre, Alloys etc insurance documents received , despite them saying they would sort that and I should have them by last Friday.

I will be speaking to them again.

Ah! that would make some sense. If you are correct, then that’s the warranty sorted. As far as the outstanding insurance issue you mentioned is concerned, I think you’re going to have to be patient.

Presuming that those matters are sorted soon, it’s up to you to check with them that breakdown insurance has been applied to the car. Whether or not you decide on a Hyundai servicing plan is a matter of choice for you but the breakdown cover is continued each year, providing that the car has been serviced in accordance with Hyundai’s schedule.

I really hope that it all turns out right but the lack of clarity from your dealer is disappointing.
