Hi, So my Tucson N Line S 23 manual car keeps rolling after i have engaged the epb switch.
It has been into Hyundai once already for this and they said they couldn't find a fault although repaired damage and gave compensation.
Anyway its happened again this time i went to the shop applied the handbrake and after 40 mins the car rolled into other cars in the carpark. Again no fault can be found on diagnostics. They have had the car two weeks now provided a hire car but they just don't know what to do.
Anyone any experience of this or outcomes?
Thanks
Handbrake EPB fail Tucson N Line S 23 Manual
Not an answer to your problem, but with a manual car it's good practice to leave your car in gear when you park it. This would prevent it rolling away if the EPB fails.
Also, if you are parking on a slope, turn your front wheels into the kerb, so if the handbrake lets go, the car will just roll into the kerb stone and stop.
It might be that the problem is mechanical rather than electronic, so would be unlikely to show up in a diagnostic check.
The car has a 5 year guarantee, so they have to fix a problem such as this - it's dangerous. Keep on at your dealer and tell them to get a Hyundai engineer involved if they are incapable of fixing the problem.
As an aside, times have changed and we are not dealing with mechanics of old that actually knew how to fix a car without resorting to a computer. Liken it to foreign call centres for phone/broadband providers, if your problem and the answer to it are not on their crib sheet - you're stuffed. Hang on a moment sir, I'll ask my manager - well that's what your dealer needs to do, as in, Hyundai technical.

Again no help to poster, but from my driving lessons back in the 80's, I was taught to always leave car in gear, 1st if facing uphill and reverse facing downhill. It's always stuck with me plus as mentioned (if possible) turn wheel off centre so if something like this did happen the kerb would come to your rescue. Problem you have now is the lack of confidence in the parking brake and therefore the vehicle, and that may never go away for you. Apart from carrying a 'chock' around with you not sure what you can do. Is it new, any chance of getting a replacement out of them as not fit for purposes and potentially a very dangerous and potentially lethal accident in the making. As it's happened twice and if it happened again and someone got seriously injured Hyundai would be potentially in all sorts of problems. It's in their interests to get the car fixed or off the road. May seem over the top but this sort of fault has the potential to cause someone a serious injury.

There was another, similar report of this, earlier in the year.

To save typing them in again, my thoughts (FWIW) are here and here

This is happening to my 24 plate n line s,it’s happened about 8 times, luckily it rolls back on the drive way which is quite flat.
Also GPF filter has been on since car hit 281 miles,Hyundai are absolutely useless, look at trustpilot for reviews.
Phoned Hyundai told them the problems and said next available slot is 14 weeks, lve told them am not going on motorways to sort the GPF ,not wasting my time and money on this problem,if this comes on again within a month I’ll be rejecting the car..
