73 reg 1.6 SE Connect Model
When the car is fully warmed up and idling, if you blip the throttle very quickly (not normally as in pulling away) there is a noticeable delay in the response from the engine. This could be quite normal, but has any other owners experienced this ?
I ask as over the past few days, my wife said the car was slightly hesitant on her commute to work when maintaining a steady 40-50mph in 5th and 6th gear. I had experienced the same but only on the very odd occasion so took no notice of it. Yesterday, I took it out to see if I could replicate it, which I couldn't; however, it was then I noticed the delay when blipping the throttle quickly from idle.
Checking with my Hyundai scanner, nothing shows up suggesting a misfire or throttle control fault.
Long delay when blipping the throttle from idle, plus hesitancy at 40-50mph
It might be enlightening to see what other owners of that model, known to have several issues, respond with.

I can't say I've noticed a delay and mines the basic petrol engine . That's not to say it's not there, just that I've not noticed it .
Your car being hesitant at 40/50 mph in 5th/6th , whats it like in 4th ? I found this petrol engine a big change from the diesels I was used to and certainly my car doesn't like 40mph in 5th gear and I'm reasonably sure it equally dislikes 50mph in 6th gear .
Are you using E5 or E10 fuel ? I now run my car just on E5 as it seems to run better on the more expensive fuel .
I didn't ask if your car was in economy mode at 40/50 mph but that can make a big difference I've found.

From new, the car didn't like 50mph in 6th, it always felt laboured and used more fuel than in 5th gear, but as the miles have gone on I've found it fine doing between 40-50mph in 6th. But as I dont drive it much, my wife has noticed it more than me.r0n wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:44 pm I can't say I've noticed a delay and mines the basic petrol engine . She notes the hesitancy regardless of fuel quality (having tried them all), also in any mode (Eco, Normal, or Sport).
With regards to the blipping, you have to do it quick, not as you normally would pulling away. Think boy racer at the traffic lights letting people know how loud his exhaust is lol
I had this exact problem. I had premium hybrid model.
From stand still, or 4/5 gear if you accelerated there was a 5 or so second of ‘nothing’ then it would go, which was scary when trying to over take. Mine was a 2021 plate.
I had test driven the new 2025 version, and they seem to have resolved this issue. Unfortunately it is a common issue with pre 2025 models.

My experience exactly with my 2021 premium hybrid. Can be quite disconcerting, even dangerous when a quick burst of power is needed.

I established it was due to the fix Hyundai applied to the GPF issue (see my other post).
Hyundai applied a fudge to delay the GPF light coming on. When it starts to sense the GPF is choking, it changes the fuel mixture and delays the light coming on. The theory behind this fix is the there is a 50/50 chance it will clear before the dash warning and thus less owners highlight the issue.
In my case, the most common journey undertaken is a slowish 40mph drive down a 20 mile rural lane populated with tractors. So the car was unable to clear the GPF filter. Once the filter cleaning process was followed it drove as it should.....until next time.
