Re: Reversing bulb on the Ultimate.
Be aware that the bulbs mentioned by optzeci and Berty are not road legal (if you look under the payment option at the top of the Benzinfabrik website, you will see an information box that states "Für Off-Road und Rennsport" - you don't really need to break out Google Translate to know wha...

Re: tyre choices
The Tucson uses sensors and a receiver with an auto relearn feature, rather than the manual or EOBD programmed systems. Which is great for us. My understanding is that Hyundai use TPMS systems from a few different suppliers (Continental, Lear, and TRW are names that I have seen), and they may have d...

Re: Clutch on Tucson and Tucson ultimate
For the first week and a bit, the clutch on our NX4, 1.6 petrol, manual, would give off the occasional burning smell if it had any amount of work to do while it bedded in. But was absolutely fine after that. I was slightly surprised by how much the driving selector (Eco/Normal/Sport) affected clutch...

Re: Costing advice
Hi Dan, Replacing the axle swivel pin (just a bolt) and the bushing isn't a big job (with an appropriate tool for installing the bush, you can DIY it on your driveway if you are so inclined), but will probably run 2 - 3 hours of labour per side. Cost varies a lot based on the vehicle, and I don't kn...

Re: tyre choices
Vote number 2 for Michelin Cross Climate 2s. I converted several years back when I put Cross Climates on my old X-Trail, and then recently replaced them with CC2s. They provide decent feel, as well as good traction in all conditions; for an all-season tyre they are amazingly capable.

Re: Folding mirrors under 10mph too slow!
I'm irked by exactly the same thing. It threw me at first, because I was so used to my T30 X-Trail, which never denied me when I wanted to fold the mirrors. When I bought a T32 X-Trail last month, that too was happy to let me fold the mirrors whenever I want. But I can tell you that for Hyundai (and...

Re: Oil consumption 1.6 non turbo 55k miles 2018
I figure things were worse in the US for the Probe than they were over here. Over here replacing the Capri made a bit of sense, although I think it would have served better to have aimed it at the Sierra market, and let the Mondeo target the Granada drivers. But over in the US they seemed to want it...

Re: Oil consumption 1.6 non turbo 55k miles 2018
Unfortunately piston rings are one of those jobs where the parts cost is almost insignificant (about £100 - £120, plus incidental parts like gaskets etc), Ford Probe Piston Rings were £300 a set, back in 1997 :( I'm a little hazy now (the old grey matter is definitely... old), but I have a recollec...

Re: Oil consumption 1.6 non turbo 55k miles 2018
1 litre every 1k miles on a 55K engine seems a little bit (but not hugely) excessive to me, but it's certainly not unheard of. I'm new to Hyundai engines and our car is too young for me to have bothered looking into oil usage amounts yet. From a cursory reading session tonight, it seems Hyundai have...

Re: FARADAY POUCH WARNING
We have had a couple of inexpensive pouches from Amazon since picking up the car at the end of last year, and they both seem to be fine still. But having just updated our X-Trail to the T32 model, it meant another pair of radio key-fobs. Add to this that my wife likes to have all the keys in the wor...
