The navigation downloader will also copy it to the USB once it's been downloaded. And you can turn the engine off - there's an option which says 'start updating once the egine is off'.

You can buy dongles which plug into the USB port and will give you wireless CarPlay. But that ties up the USB port - so personally, I can't see the point.

Oh well a bit of a non starter then, never mind. For info the car is a VW ID 5. On the subjct of ad blockers which I had no idea existed, can anyone recommend a good free one that works with Windows 11.
