Me again.....
I have noticed that the USB media can only be read in the far left front USB A socket.
With this usb socket populated my music works exactly as I want...
However. this now means that I can no longer use Apple CarPlay as this also only works from the far left USB A Socket ?
I know that my USB Music is almost redundant if I leverage Apple CarPlay - but like without everything else in the world I want to have both freely available.
I did look at getting one of the Wireless Adapters, but this again would I assume use the same USB A socket.
Also if I use Bluetooth Phone connection you cant use Apple CarPlay
Any solution
- could I use a USB hub perhaps?
- is there another USB socket I dont know about

There’s a thread about this topic on the American forum, the conclusion a usb splitter won’t work due to the head unit being only able to read one usb source at a time, it being a design limitation of the Hyundai software.
Have you thought of subscribing to a music streaming service, Spotify, Amazon Music & Deezer all work fine with Apple car play & android auto, avoid Tidal though as it’s far too flaky on mobile data,
I’ve used Deezer successfully for 4 years in various vehicles with android auto in the UK & Europe.
Another option is to store the music on your phone this will then be playable whilst using Apple Car Play.

Interesting - you have piqued my interest and turned my universe upside-down . I'd never heard of 'splitters' (and I'm pretty sure they don't exist in the USB spec!). However, a cursory investigation reveals that the Host will only ever address device at a time, so in theory they could all be dead simple "splitters", simply wiring the devices in parallel. I'm going to have to go do some reading up, to put my mind at restPogleswood wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 3:36 pm There’s a thread about this topic on the American forum, the conclusion a usb splitter won’t work due to the head unit being only able to read one usb source at a time, it being a design limitation of the Hyundai software.
But going back to the 'thing' I found on Amazon (with no great research; I was sitting in Sainsbury's car park at the time ),
one review says :-
and another says :-I wanted to plug in two devices into my cars USB and this device is perfect and at a very reasonable cost.
But Amazon has a great returns policyI brought this to use in my van to be able to use android auto along with a USB stick for music but it didn't work so sent it back as it didn't do what was required.
(It definitely has some active circuitry in it, because one review says
It can give off a burning odour when used for a prolonged period of time.

I tried a USB hub as I'd have liked to do the same. But, not, the s/w can only read one device at a time. Since the only thing I wanted Android Auto for was Google maps and I find the built in maps work fine, I gave up connecting my phone (I still have a bluetooth connection, of course).

Splitter wasn’t the best term as this implies separating the data & voltage parts of the usb connection.

If you had an Android phone then you can essentially use your phone as a the USB stick since they support copying and pasting files directly from a PC.
You'd probably still need to play them through an app on Android auto but it does do away with the faff of having to have everything in iTunes to sync

There’s a thread on the forum about wireless or lack of wireless ACP & AA on Gen5W head unit
I’ve not bothered with the update as I use a Motorola MA1 for wireless Android Auto.
