Folding mirrors under 10mph too slow!
I own 2022 Tucson Ultimate, the drivers door has a button that folds the wing mirrors in for width restrictions & such like. But only folds them in if travelling under 10mph which I feel is too slow. Does anyone know if this can be adjuster to a higher speed.
Welcome to the forum, ‘Gingertom’.
I’m not aware of any adjustment possible such as you enquire about. That said, I’m at a loss to think of a circumstance where there might be a need to retract the the mirrors at a higher speed.

I too find it a pain to have to fold them in at effectively a stop. If it could be done at say up to 20 mph (eg like the Karoq I used to drive) then it makes it much easier when one enters a narrow lane (lots round here). However I guess we just need to live with it.
I'm irked by exactly the same thing. It threw me at first, because I was so used to my T30 X-Trail, which never denied me when I wanted to fold the mirrors. When I bought a T32 X-Trail last month, that too was happy to let me fold the mirrors whenever I want. But I can tell you that for Hyundai (and Kia, who include an almost identical warning in the 2022 Sportage user manual), being able to (un)fold your mirrors when in motion, is apparently, a safety concern.
This seems ridiculous to me. They are claiming to be worried that pushing button on your door might cause you to crash. But they don't have a similar speed restriction lock out on the other other controls. I can wind the windows up or down. I can adjust the air conditioning. That's fine, but folding the mirrors might cause me to crash?? Good grief!
Apparently, MG have a similar speed dependent restriction on folding the mirrors, but theirs has its own extra danger... It automatically unfolds the mirrors if you go above 10MPH!!2023 Tucson Owner's Manual: Page 5-32 wrote: WARNING
Do not adjust or fold the outside rearview mirrors whilst driving. This may cause loss of vehicle control resulting in an accident

Fantastic gadgets and tech, shame about certain "Safety" features...
(Lane Keeping Assistance having to be manually disengaged every start up, I'm looking at you!)

Living rurally and sharing narrow lanes with some rather large farm machinery, who really don’t like slowing down or moving over, being able to retract the door mirrors at over 10mph would be really useful, my BMW 4 series allowed you to retract them up to 25 mph which is a more useful speed.

Firstly, Thanks to all for your replies.
Strange, I found it more dangerous when I press the button at say 15mph approaching a width restriction, and it doesn't work, then I found myself taking my eyes off the road to see if I've pressed the correct button. Not something you want to do entering a width restriction.
My previous car a Lexus CT200H, was quite happy for me to retract the mirrors at 20mph. That felt much safer.

I'm wondering if they would 'pop out' if you tested them from closed at 0mph to over the 10mph threshold? Just thinking out loud
