Hi,
Have just had my Tucson Hybrid ultimate in for its main service - and was surprided to find I had been billed £46.00 for SAE 5-30 oil!
The handbook clearly states 0-20 oil, but when quried with the service manager was told thats what they put in all their cars - except the N-Line, which do get 0-20.

I asked why not 0-20 as specified and was told it comes in a drum, and is fine.

So, ???don't waste your money on buying the correct oil/grade it seems. Still £298.00 is a lot to pay for an oil and filter change - especially as it was overfilled beyond the top of the orange indicator!!

I think if keeping the car, I will do my own changes in future.

On a Tucson that really makes no sense. The Nlines have exactly the same combustion engines/bhp as any other trim level. Anyways mine got 0W20 at the service.

Name and shame the dealer. I know that only bad news about dealers is generally reported but I've lost count of the number of issues with dealers have been raised on here. My own experience with Eden in Loudwater near High Wycombe in Bucks was at best poor so I now use Johnsons in Oxford.
For a dealer to know better than the manufacturer beggars belief and I wonder if your warranty is now in jeopardy on at least the engine?
I've bought a load of cars new from different makes/dealers and Hyundais are the worst I've ever come across.

Hi,
this was at READ Hyundai in Lincoln - and asked to speak to the service manager - thats what she told me. Rang Hyundai in Grimsby (?head office) - they also use 5-30!!
When I asked why the vehicle was 'overfilled' - it was because 'these engines burn oil, so we add extra' !! So I have sucked out more than half a liter to get the level correct.

Can anyone on here also check their invoice to show what oil they have had put in please?

Rob

I've shown part of my invoice on the previous post showing 0W20. My car has used no oil at all between services and I check it regularly.

Mine was also overfilled a little, was told it was done by volume so is fine, of course, they wouldn't put it in writing.

Physio, how did you suck some out?

I removed the excess oil by a battery suction pump from Machine Mart that I had in the garage. I would be grateful if anyone that had 0-20 at their service could let me know 'where' this was, so I can get an idea of what the choice is around the country?
Many thanks,
Rob

Just checked my service receipt and it says GT1 5W/30 Oil Titan Flex. This was at R N Golden near Huddersfield.

thanks Yorkie - good to know, maybe standard practice as the oil cost for the service on my car was £46.00 - whereas 0-20 Shell Helix is £80.00 for 5 L.
Is this just cost saving by Hyundai?
