Insurance (again)

Got my renewal today. It's gone up from £401 to £570 - and I haven't made any claims or anything.

Hybrid tax? Seems to be reports of 7-10% more expensive to repair a hybrid, and with inflation as well plus a general uptick in costs it seems to work out, sadly.

My renewal quote has gone to £358 from £278 so not great, but wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting based on others experiences. If I use the Comprison sites its circa £440 from the same insurer.

My experience is similar to above - I used comparison sites and all quoted around £550, then I tried LV who came back with £780!! When my renewal came at the weekend I was quite pleased that it was £380. Still up by a hundred quid over the previous year though.

I purchased my Ultimate in april 23 and paid a very reasonable £220 mind I'm 70 maybe that makes a difference

For those using comparison sites , have you considered using a cashback site ? You may find it worthwhile .

Just renewed my car insurance , the price via comparison sites was rather more than the insurance renewal I received from my existing company , and by a fair margin.

Surprisingly I didn't find the quotes obtained via cashback sites worthwhile either

My policy renewal was cheaper than policies being quoted by my existing company on comparison sites and the terms being quoted via the comparison sites were far worse, my current policy has much lower excesses ( both compulsory and voluntary ) than I was being quoted for a new policy.

Obviously it still pays to shop around but I can't remember a time when my renewal came in so much cheaper than new policies from any company.
