I just took delivery of my base model Tucson (1.6 TGDi SE Connect ).
I was looking forward to having a decent set of headlamps as I live in a rural area. I also have a small city car which is not the best for night driving around unlit county lanes.
However, the Tucson lights are not much better, in fact the high beam on my city car is better.
Do other owners find the same?
Headlamps not very effective
From your signature, your Tucson has the LED headlights.
Mine has the halogen bulbs, so perhaps not a great upgrade to the LED.
My city car is an Hyundai, and whilst the lights are fairly poor, the high beam trounces the high beam on my Tucson.
Make sure the headlights are not turned down to their lowest aim on the road via the small wheel in the panel next to the drivers door under the dashboard. By aiming them higher you can get a longer light pattern further up the road.
This adjustment wheel may only apply to led headlights not too sure about other models.

It is for other cars as well not just LEDs, they are required because of the potential of changes in weight in the car. Mostly argued they are for when towing something which pulls the back of the car down pusing the front of the car up meaning you would have to adjust your headlights "down" to flatten out the arc of the light.Big S wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:18 pm Make sure the headlights are not turned down to their lowest aim on the road via the small wheel in the panel next to the drivers door under the dashboard. To the OP I have LEDs and although they are better than halogen bulbs the Tucson light even on FULL beam is not as good as my last 2016 Seat Leon which was LED as well. In that Leon you would turn on the full beam and the entire landscape would nearly light up but the Tucson not so much.
I will say this though, the location of the Tucson headlights are lower than my last car even though the car is higher up so there could be that as well. If I'm heading up hill and a car is heading down towards me, depending on the angle the other car might actually flash me thinking I'm driving on full beam((regardless of which setting I have my headlight set to(I've tested this)). I was actually driving the other night and a car was coming towards me and it was another Tucson, I didn't know because their lights were blinding me(they were higher up on the incline), turns out just normal LED Tucson headlights, not on full beam.
tldr; Tucson headlights do be weird

I would be very careful with that option, your car will not be road legal as a result and could affect warranty
"Retrofitting is when you replace a standard bulb with an LED version. At the moment, it’s completely road legal for you to replace an internal bulb with an LED bulb. However, there’s no legislation to cover retrofitting external facing light sources and therefore LED exterior bulbs in this instance are not road legal."

I'd not realised that you're not allowed to change them anymore

I do know that a bike magazine did some experiments with LED bulb swaps a few years back (same bike as mine, as it happens). The results were truly dreadful - the beam patterns were all over the placeThe MoT testing manual was also updated in 2021, telling testers: “Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp [the car will fail its MoT as a result].”

Also feel the headlights are poor.
My previous car was considerably better despite being 5 years older.
Had them checked on the last service and were told they were fine.
Just crappy design
