Hi Beards
Again that is really helpful.
Sorry for so many questions but is it a total no/no to use an extension cable?
Many thanks again.

UK House Charging Cable for 3 Pin House socket
Definately….. You simply cannot rely on any added electrical wiring when using high Amps, even 10A may not be suitable for an extension cable… even those that are rated heavy duty, if they fail you risk damage.

Just look at the thickness of the charging cable. That must be what they reckon is needed to provide a safe constant power supply for hour after hour. Most extension leads aren't rated so highly and some need to be fully unwound to work without tripping. Plus more joins in the wiring means more potential hotspots for burn outs. I've read advice not to use a 3-pin charger at all as they are not as safe as a fully installed 7kW charger. And I have seen examples of the 'plug socket over heating and burning out.

It would be nice to think that people would be sufficiently aware by now of the potential dangers involved in using a three-pin plug and cable to charge a car battery but I suspect that some will ignore all the warnings and hook up via an extension cable to their shed, garage or direct from their house to the car. It might work ok and never cause a problem but on the other hand.......!
Professionals wouldn’t do it that way and one only has to consider the instances of Ebike and Escooter conflagrations that have been reported over the last couple or three years to realise how deadly electrical fires can be. Anyone using a three-pin charging cable should seek professional guidance before hooking up.
You can be sure that there will be someone who loses a car in a virtually-impossible-to-quench blaze caused by ignoring the best advice who then goes on to blame the car manufacturer for supplying a car that turns out to be a virtual deathtrap.

Extending the 'Type 2' cable at the other side of the Hyundai ICCB, with one of these, should be feasible :-

I've been using the 3 pin plug 5 days a week pretty much since i had the car, charging on 10amp (when you hold the button down) takes 6 and a half hours - but i do only charge at work so assume the warehouse socket can handle the power more than a domestic home ?
