Finally persuaded the dear lady now was the right time to upgrade our 21 Ultimate Hybrid for a 2025 Ultimate Hybrid, anyway after visiting dealer to place our order for a Ultimate in Jupiter Orange with Moss Grey interior and the Lux pack, in his words a unicorn car and factory order, build time and delivery date was not available for this specification his best guess was sometime next year due to Hyundai currently not building Ultimate’s with Moss Grey interior or the Jupiter Orange finish.

He has come back to me this morning after speaking to Hyundai and it appears they also haven’t a clue when such a specification will be available, possibly 6 to 9 months they couldn’t say, so back to the drawing board then…..

I for one can tell you what it is like to wait and wait and wait… just look at my signature info.
The way I see it you only have three options.
1. Choose a different colour and see how that affects the order process.
2. Accept it and wait…….
3. Go elsewhere.

When I was waiting I shopped around and found similar wait times when wishing a complex build. It’s hard but component shortages or manufacturing issues will lengthen build dates.

Well we finally tracked down a 2025 Ultimate Hybrid in colour combinations that the dear lady & I could agree upon that dealer had physically in stock on site, came to deal that we all could agree upon, asked when the car would be ready collection as we’d already indicated we wanted it asap as it was on site… was told couldn’t have the car until October due to the fact they have sold too many cars for August/September delivery and they’d be putting it in storage until then….. needless to say after my dear lady had finished talking to them we left without ordering a car….

This is a not uncommon scenario for prospective buyers who fixate on a particular model in a particular trim and paint. As I can’t enthuse much about the exterior colour of my car, my pursuit of a model in one of two trim variations simplified my recent buying experience. I would have very much liked to remain with my previous KIA dealership but I was not prepared to wait in the region of a year in order to collect a car in the trim level of my choice; the alternative being to select a lesser model in the range...in poverty spec.

I have owned an awful lot of cars over the years but I have never had to wait more than 4-6 weeks to take delivery of a car of my choice.

I like both KIA and Hyundai but other brands are available with dealerships not far from home. It wouldn’t be the end of the world for me if I had to settle for a different brand in order to acquire a replacement car in a short space of time.

To the layman, what an utterly ridiculoud scenario !

I haven't tried it in recent times, but in days of yore, in your current scenario I've approached another dealer and asked them to if they would approach your current dealer to prise the car you want out of their hands. Sometimes a swap could be done.
Longshot, but maybe worth a try.

Well we’ve now visited 6 different Hyundai dealers, some whom claim to have advertised vehicle in stock or promise to request spec required from another dealer for it never to materialise.
Todays dealer physically had the vehicle, but wouldn’t budge on the delivery, only reason we where pushing for quick delivery is because part exchange based on current mileage, if we wait till October our car will have another 2000+ miles after our Europe holiday and there would then be the awkward oh the part ex value has changed conversation…

In a twist of fate, the dealer who serviced our car last week contacted me an hour ago to say they’ll have a car next week in the the colour combination we’ve settled on and it’ll be ready to collect in 10 days…..result….

Great news on the order, your original spec was exactly what I was thinking about but I guess it’s a no go now as I don’t want to wait that long.

Can I ask, what did you go for in the end ?
