387 miles in 6hr 38 mins is an average of only 58mph though.

But it's still better than the 44mpg, I get pootling around the twisty, tiny roads of North Devon (the nearest dual-carriageway is 17 miles away from home).
I defy anyone to sit at a maximum of 70mph on motorways and average that. 58 is pretty good for England. :D :D

I used to own a 2022 Ultimate Hybrid with Tech Pack - in Red (best colour).
I now own a 2025 Ultimate Hybrid - also in Red.
Also have two motorcycles. Honda CB1300 and Honda CBF1000 (also red, of course).

It's definitely not an economical car on long motorway runs, it's much better around town.

I must admit I do miss the economy of my Octavia 1.5 petrol, that would get 56+ MPG and ~650 miles from a tank on a long run.

Gone of the day a new car doing over 600 miles to a tank full, they are all having smaller fuel tanks to save weight to get more mpg. Give you an idea the new Mercedes gla plug in has a 32 litre tank so the most new cars will do 300-350 on a tank of fuel.

That is one thing I miss from my previous KIA Optima SW with DCT. It had a 70 litre diesel tank and over 6.5 years, returned very similar average mpg to my Tucson HEV.

The downside with the Tucson is that I have to refuel more frequently. The other side of the coin is that the Tucson is much quicker than the Optima although the Optima handled much better and could be driven at speeds round bends that I wouldn’t attempt to emulate in the Tucson.

I used the Tucson ( 1.6 petrol ) to commute the 33 miles to work which is dual and motorway for 3 months. Apart from one roundabout leading onto the M4 which usually has half a mile of traffic on, it was 68 on cruise all the way. Used to get anywhere between 42 and 45 mpg.. Any cross country trip returns the same...

I've bought a 60 plate Alfa Mito 1.6d for the commute now. A right giggle to drive,64 mpg and half the fuel costs..
