I note that correspondents to the KIA forum, of which you are/were a member, are proclaiming that the ‘update’ has been pulled by KIA so no longer available. Others are claiming that there is no change as a result of installing the update.

As it took 3 and a bit hours for me to download the files to a USB drive plus a further 30 minutes to transfer the files to my infotainment unit, I will never get back those hours, worthless as it now seems they were.😡

(I say largely, because the web site, Bluelink app and the car itself can't quite agree if the car is an "NX4" or an "NX4e")

All NX4 cars sold in Europe are NX4e, whereas those sold in North America are NX4a. The last letter only designates the region, not some version of the vehicle.

I did notice two things since the update.

1. I feel that using the mapping such as plotting a route via someplace else I think the screens appear slightly faster but not lightening faster just appears a little bit.
2. This morning, albeit this was a mapping update, the file was large enough to affect the entire infotainment like it flashed a newer version. The sound volume in the car this morning took a nose dive, cycled AA volume to zero, switched to Radio volume went down to Zero through all the numbers and the same with bluetooth sound. Buttons on infotainment, not just volume(settings button/map/nav) just stopped responding(touch screen still worked). Steering wheel controls worked but volume up didn't work. Flickered at 1 but like it was locked to get back to zero so just fought me keeping itself back to zero. Reset of infotainment(little button) didn't help. Pulled over and engine off/on and worked again. Never in my nearly 2 years of ownership did that ever happen.

Based on number 2 one of the promises of the update was that you could hold down the mic button to meddle with the volume of the mapping update which came with different ways to work with speed assist. This button/option did't work for me, it was just as it always was so in my head I'm thinking they are linked as both are based on sound. I really would like to avoid a dealer visit should it return.

That would be fine, if it were applied consistently, in all the places it appears. It isn't!

I wonder if you have a different view of the Hyundai website, to UK users? Or maybe the web site has been updated?...

I just see:

(and drilling down to the detailed info, reveals that there is no new map - at least for my model)

Or did you see the info about "audible warnings" etc somewhere else?

I suspect they put this information on the website too early, as you said file with map versions has not been updated nor the update itself has been made live yet.

Previous updates correspond with Europe ones. This website is for Hyundai updates overall. When you’re out of free updates, you can buy one there even for Europe.

It is after I updated the car and you get offered the screen which shows what was updated(QR Code etc), I did try to take a photo but my camera was at 108m so the image was too large. Being impatient I didn't bother changing my camera resolution so pushed on with my day.
