Hi all,

We recently took ownership of our 71 plate tucson. Didn’t have any issues on test drive or driving it home but now it has started doing this strange grinding sound at different times when driving (starting up, driving or stationary)

I’ve attached a video showing it happening during start up but like I say this can happen when travelling at different speeds as well.

The sound seems to come from behind or around the dash and I want to say sounds more electrical than mechanical.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar issue.

Many Thanks

Lloyd

Welcome to the forum, ‘Lloydyboy’.

You have omitted to state which specific model in the range this query relates to but a little more information would help potential responders here. For example, does this sound occur only while the Climate Control/aircon is running or is the noise absent with that feature switched off?

Moreover, you haven’t specified how recently you acquired the car and whether it was purchased from a Hyundai dealership or from somewhere else. If you have only had it for a few weeks or even a few months, your first port of call should be a return to the selling dealer. I’m unclear from your provided information as to whether the vehicle is still covered under the Hyundai 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty or may have been provided with a warranty from the selling dealer if not purchased privately.

If the car has an impeccable Hyundai dealer service history, then you should have no trouble having the fault remedied under the warranty. If not, you may have a problem getting Hyundai to agree to provide the remedy FOC.

First thoughts are that the noise sounds more like an air compressor .

Does your car have an adjustable lumbar support in the drivers seat ? Could the noise be coming from under your seat ?
