Hello

Has anyone found speedcam alerts in Hyundai unreliable?

I'm not sure exactly where the fault is, as Hyundai only notifies about some cameras but not the others. I understand that some speedcams may not be operational but still I would expect a ding.
Usually the same camers are omitted so its not GPS issue.

On top Waze is not much better and doesnt notify about speedcams at all unless the route is set up otherwise only pulsating circle is there.

I'm not on the latest map at the moment, waiting for the 2025 edition, but I'm convinced that its a map issue as I can see the cameras on maps but there is no alert.

I can’t say that I have, ‘m112’.

Certainly, in my area, I seem to receive a warning as I approach known cameras and mobile speed camera zones. I just hope I’m not missing any but as I never exceed speed limits, I should be ok.

I also receive an audible alert as I move from one posted limit to another. Frankly, I’m of the opinion that these are examples of technology that should not be necessary. Surely if a qualified driver chooses to ignore the stipulated speed limit and is recorded on camera, the requisite penalty should apply? We are all supposed to pay attention and keep our eyes on the road, taking in such information from road signs as may be available

I agree but I would rather like to have it working properly or not having having this at all, I frequently pass camers when the car is silent while other are producing the audible sound just not sure the reason.

maybe that's because not all are speed cameras. some might be red light cameras, traffic cameras, or just surveillance cameras.

Hello

No, it's a speed camera with freshly painted lines, and it shouldn't be deactivated (there are many in Scotland that were disabled due to low volume of fines).
I may update to latest version of map but this camera is there for years so it may be something weird going on

I'm particularly bemused, by the 'average speed' display, while in a SPECS camera zone. Why on earth doesn't it display your true speed, rather than the higher, massaged value that is fed to the 'Speedometer'

I'm sure you're aware, but in case you're not, the alerts are implemented by checking your current position against a database of known 'Safety' cameras. So what you're seeing, is just a shortcoming in the data. AFAIK, there is no published, official list of 'Safety Cameras' - so it's anybody's guess who Hyundai's source is.

Personally, I use the PocketGPSWorld database, on an old Garmin SatNav (that lives face down near the accessory socket). I also use it 'properly' on my motorcycle SatNav. There is also an Android App that uses this database. (There may be an app for the Shiny Fruit phone, as well ;) )

This is the most up-to-date database, because the camera locations are provided by its users - who have a vested interest in doing so.

I've noticed recently that I no longer have a warning sound when approaching a speed camera. The volume on the radio dips when the sound should occur but nothing else happens.
I've checked all the sound settings but I haven't (knowingly) changed anything.
I'm not too bothered as I'm changing it for a facelift model next week but I wonder whether it's as a result of an update.

Not sure if this affects it but have you tried the volume setting on the navigation screen?

Thanks, madowl. I'd forgotten about that option but it did the trick. I just wonder how those settings change without any input from me. Maybe it was the last software update.
