So, with 170 miles on the clock I set off for a 70 mile drive down the motorway and stuff.
All OK - nothing broke of fell off. Fuel consumption was around 44mpg, which I consider OK considering the car is new and not yet run in.
One interesting thing - the system wouldn't let the battery go below aorund 50%. It seemed to want to charge it to over 75% - at one point it was almost full and it still used the engine going down hill. So, I think there's still some inprovements to be had in the firmware algorithms. (my old car would take it down to 25% but rarely went anywhere near 75%).
Other things to note.
Each time you put cruise control on, the green steering wheel icon came on - that's the lane keeping thingy. So, I kept having to turn it off. Never had that issue on the old one - detault was off - and it stayed off. Maybe there'sa setting I've missed.
I was playing music on wireless Android Auto (from my phone). Occasionally, it would just turn itself off. Might be the wifi connection (or whatever it uses) being a tad unreliable - or a stray signal from somewhere. And everytime my phone got a notification, it would pause the music for a couple of seconds.
The speedcam detector seemed to work OK on the motorways.
First long(ish) drive
Hi Alan
Mine generally runs below 50% battery (not sure what percentage exactly) but if I set the regenerative braking (LV 1 to 3 or auto) then it keeps it above 50% and towards 75%. As far a mpg goes this seems to improve mpg if in mixed or town driving but this slightly reduces it on motorways/open roads with no stopping.

Oh - it's the regen braking doing that. I'll try without and see what happens.

I used to own a 2022 Ultimate Hybrid with Tech Pack - in Red (best colour).
I now own a 2025 Ultimate Hybrid - also in Red.
Also have two motorcycles. Honda CB1300 and Honda CBF1000 (also red, of course).

I may be being over-simplistic but I suspect the car has recognised that you are on a motorway with well-defined lane markings and being as you are on cruise control, has therefore engaged HDA.
By switching off the green steering wheel icon, you have effectively disengaged the HDA. All that said, I would have expected you to notice the letters ‘HDA’ somewhere in the display within the instrument binnacle.
As that feature may well have changed or been modified in the latest edition, my interpretation of what you experienced may well be way off-beam.

I don't think it's got anything to do with 'recognising a motorway' - I think it's a default of "engage cruise control, turn HDA on". which my old Tucson didn't do.

Well, that’s interesting, ‘alan sh’.
My car is a 2023 build and mine does exactly as I described which caused me to imagine that yours would activate in similar fashion. What I find curious is the fact that, try as I may, I cannot get HDA to function except on motorways. I’m guessing here but perhaps the car recognises motorways from the navigation system, whether a destination has to be set or not, I can’t say. On those occasions when I have utilised HDA, I have set a destination, set cruise and the HDA symbol appears in addition to the green steering wheel icon.
This seems to happen without me having to press any other buttons, ie, it occurs automatically and turns off when exiting a motorway on to any other road. It may be the case that I previously ticked a box in settings to facilitate this feature when conditions make it possible but I can’t say for definite without accessing the settings menu to check.
As I may have mentioned in a previous post elsewhere, I was tickled by the HDA system’s ability to observe and comply with changes in speed limit, either up or down, which makes for an interesting trip on the M25!

Maybe it does work like that, but I am pretty sure it only came on when I had cruise control on. I will try CC when not on a motorway and see what happens.

Well, I can confirm that the little green steeringwheel symbol does come back on when you have cruise control on when on a motorway, bit not at other times.
