While we ponder if the reset issue is somehow related to the 12 volt battery, is that tech in our HEV’s related to the 2017 Ionic?

Yes, that looks like what we have in the HEV

terryp wrote: Fri Jul 29, 2022 6:38 pm So today I took my car to the dealer so that they could look for the cause of the reset problem. I had some luck in that when I started the car for the short journey it had (yet again) reset. Just for once I was pleased to see it and left all the controls and Climate Control as they were.
I waited while they carried out their diagnostics and after about 2 hours I was told
a) I had the latest software. No surprise as I had downloaded it a couple of weeks ago
b) they had carried out a "hard reset". (I'd be grateful if someone could explain what that means to me)

I was told that if it happened again to video it or take photos so that they could send them on to Hyundai Technical. This did not fill me with confidence.
While I intend to take photos of any reoccurrence, I will bypass the dealer and contact Hyundai directly. At least I will be in the loop regarding the problem and, hopefully, the remedy.

Can I suggest that everyone with this problem approach their dealer as there is strength in numbers and we are all more likely to move it along more quickly if Hyundai realise that this is a generic problem.
My car is booked in for the 15th Aug for investigations. I hold out little hope, but there's a protocol that has to be followed. I will follow your route if the trip to the dealer reveals nothing.

Can I just get clarity on what the results of the reset are. I've had my car less than a week but yesterday I noticed the air con reset to 22 and I'd lost the speedo in my middle of my dash view. However, the navigation split screen with DAB was still there so it's not resetting everything. Is there anything else associated I should look for to verify?

I'm at the dealers tomorrow (for them to fix a superficial scratch on the dash) so can mention it and see what they say. I'm expecting a confused expression mind...

In my experience, what you lose or what changes varies each time.
As well as the air con changing temp, sometimes it goes off altogether. The clock on the infotainment screen changes time and/or day and I've also had it disappear completely on one occasion.
I think someone claimed that their fuel consumption figure changed or was lost, but I can't swear to that.

I quite like my dealer, but their service dept claimed they've had no experience of these problems. I find that odd as it seems that this is happening to hybrids a lot and I know that the majority of cars sold by them are hybrids.
Ask your dealer to to take this up with Hyundai as the more people who report it, the more likely something will be done, that is if a cure is possible.

You're not alone, Mark. Welcome to the Reset Club.
I've had no reset since last Friday but it's early days.

On the whole, what you’ve seen is the same as most on this thread.

As you are taking yours in tomorrow, ask that they take a copy of the ‘HU logs from the AVN’, as my dealer has told me that this what the Techs need to help them find a solution.

As well as all the glitches listed in this thread, yesterday evening my car alarm went off several times and unlocking/locking the car would not prevent it. Luckily my wife heard it, because the sound is too quiet for me.
I searched the interior of the car to see if an insect was setting it off - nothing found. I eventually turned off the interior alarm in the settings and it stayed quiet all night thankfully.
I had done a 6 mile round trip in the morning, then in the afternoon I'd had reason to get in the car and switch on the ignition twice. Both times I had the low battery warning flash up telling me to start the car, which I didn't do. I thought this was unusual as the battery must have taken some charge earlier.

Under normal circumstances I'd assume I had a faulty alarm and ring the dealer, but I did wonder if this is allied to all the other gremlins we're getting, which we think are maybe caused by low battery power.
What do you guys think - any correlation and has anyone else experienced alarm problems ?

It’s got to be related. Something about that battery is causing exceptions in other systems.
