Seems fairly comprehensive & self explanatory.
Always good when someone does the work for you. (Assuming no 'incentives' given to WhatCar 😉)

From memory, I think several, if not all, car mags produce tyre comparison tests every year or two. Certainly, Auto Express, does frequent tests and I suspect, like most motoring organs, press and audio/visual, there will be some kick-back for the ‘one-trick ponies’ who claim to be journalists, specialising in all things automotive, providing they choose a particular brand as the best on test........allegedly!😊

I may be teaching you to suck eggs but a word of caution that these comparisons are indicative only.
They didn't use a Tuscon so the car is a different weight and size as are the tyre/wheel sizes.
There is also the competence of the nut behind the wheel so please use as a guide not a definition of what works for you on your car.

I think the ratings given by noise, wet / dry adhesion & MPG are the required benchmark. Even a new Tucson's characteristics will vary through the range - Petrol, MHEV, HEV, PHEV & variables on which tech is loaded onto models.
I guess each test done can't physically use every tyre on the market, so a variable from each tester will be recommended. Probably fair to say if you take any of the number ones they rated, (if budget not a problem), you can't go far wrong.

You are quite right, ‘Philr’, to draw attention to these tyre comparison tests as they are far from comprehensive and what may win a test on 15” wheels could be far from the best in a 19” comparison.

For a great many drivers, price may well be their major concern when shopping around for replacement tyres so ‘On the limit’ handling in either wet or dry conditions may not really concern them too much. The same applies to the other criteria we read about in these tests. All tyres in these various tests we read about have to be fit for purpose so price is a really big consideration.

Just to add an observation: I have paid some attention to these tyre tests in the past, more for roadholding and stopping distances than anything else, but I've also paid attention to road noise readings too.
How much difference do those noise readings make in the real world though ? I have the original Michelin Primacys on my car, which for the most part make for a peaceful drive, but on some motorway surfaces they kick up a fair racket. They are not cheap tyres and if I'd bought them on the strength of a tyre test, I'd be disappointed.

You are absolutely right that tyres must be fit for purpose and that price is a significant factor.

I think the relevance of the tyre tests published above is that we have no other chance of directly comparing tyres and even if they are not on a Hyundai Tucson, they are at least being tested consistently on one car.

The results of the tests show clearly that certain brands of tyre consistently have better road holding and braking performance than others. Speaking for myself, I would never voluntarily buy a Fronway or Landsail tyre for my family’s car.

It is also sensible to be aware of the limitations of the tests and the motivations of those publishing them.

Perhaps more relevant than those I posted above, here is a test of SUV-specific all season tyres (but it does only cover four, all premium brands).

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 wins.

I think therein lies the moral.
