Good morning folks. I've just had my renewal quote from LV-up 37% at £613. I paid £260 in 2022! Tried 3 comparison sites so far and no worthwhile savings. I'll leave it till closer to the renewal date and see if I can get LV down a bit but last year they hardly budged.
I'm 75, no recent claim and car is plug-in hybrid. I suspect age is now the biggest handicap but not much I can do about that.

If you've read through this thread, you'll have seen that there is no magic wand, especially at our age.
Just keep searching really until you find a quote that doesn't make you gulp.
If quotes are unnacceptable to you, maybe alter your criteria a little e.g. accept a larger excess.
Good luck.

I have no doubt that your age is the biggest obstacle now to achieving decent cover from the car insurance industry. I first encountered that too in my mid 70s and I can tell you, it doesn’t get any better. The same ‘principle' applies if you should wish to hire a car abroad although I shouldn’t really use the word ‘principle’ when speaking of car insurers as they are all nothing more than a bunch of shysters, the lot of them!

Click the Blue Box at the top of the forum, to get your ALA discount, then navigate to the "Excess Insurance" section.
For a small fee (starts at £20ish), you can claim all of the excess back, in the event of a claim.

Do not set the Excess too high - neither the main policy nor the Gap Insurance will pay anything until that threshold is met!

There are, of course, other providers - but I have successfully claimed from ALA. The hard part was getting the details of the claim from LV!

Hi, just insured my N Line S Hybrid with Allianz as they have sunroof cover. Reading the small print the policy is underwritten by LV but nearly £90 cheaper!

Hi again. I've just rung LV about my renewal and they knocked £60 off-£554 now-so I'll probably go with that as it's pretty much the same as the cheapest quote I got from the comparison sites. Road Tax @£590+£50 for 1st MOT makes August a bad month!
