So, today I went down to Cambridge from Rochdale (and back). Apart from the first 5 miles (and the same coming back) it was dual carriageway/motorway all the way. No major holdups, just one set of 50mph roadworks down the M1. I set the cruise control to 71 (which equates to a real 70mph) and left it there as long as I could. Aircon was on at 19.5c auto. Outside air temp ranged from 17c to 20c.

I filled up before I left and you can see the results. [and yes, I need to clean the screen :) ]

I find the screen always shows up the dust in photos, so I don't think you are particularly guilty on that one. (I'm sure mine is far worse)

Also I've found that on mine the speedometer over-reads by 2mph according to all the SIDs I've been through since I got the car.

I did a similar long trip to Wales recently from Sussex and can nearly match that (44.5mpg) on the journey back and that included a fair bit of hold up in traffic, with 2 x adults and 2 x big dogs and a fair bit of luggage. Mines only a 1.6 petrol. Pretty pleased with that. 😁

On my car (and Norma's) , at 30mph, it overreads by 2mph - at 70, it's only over by 1mph.

With regard to the integrated speedometer, I concur with the comments from both ‘Ex-Tyke’ & ‘alan sh’.

Over the time I have had my Tucson, whenever I have checked for accuracy at any given steady speed, I have discovered that the device in the car is close to that described by both Google Maps and Apple Maps. Typically 0.5-2 mph over-read at most important speed points.

In short, it is the most accurate speedometer I have encountered in any of my cars over the years.

We recently part exchanged our Tuscon Hybrid final photo at dealers.

I found over the course of ownership that tyre pressures really play a big part in improving mpg, I always run ours at 38psi all round even after 32k there was still over 4mm left on the tyres, also found if you stick to 60 to 65 on the motorway you’ll regularly get well over 50 mpg.

I can't stick at 60-65 on the motorway, it feels wrong.

Where it’s possible, I cruise on the limit. Sadly, for a variety of reasons, progress is largely dictated by other traffic. At some major junctions, vehicles merging on to the motorway cause the HGVs to slow down and many of those then move into the centre lane, unable in many cases to return to the inside for several miles. That situation is exacerbated by idiots jockeying for position by frequent lane-switching, especially the ones who think they have some god-given right to force their way into the outside lane then tailgate whatever is in front of them.

387 miles in 6hr 38 mins is an average of only 58mph though.

But it's still better than the 44mpg, I get pootling around the twisty, tiny roads of North Devon (the nearest dual-carriageway is 17 miles away from home).
