Hi everyone, I have one of the self charging hybrid Tucson I’ve noticed recently that when I start up the engine runs, even sometimes just for a few seconds.

It always used to be silent on ignition start and run off battery. Is anyone else find this? Maybe it is outside temperature related?

Definitely temperature related.

Coming into second winter of NX4 ownership. Temperatures here have fallen dramatically in the past week and as last winter, mpg has reduced significantly and more engine use to provide heat etc. Takes quite a while typically for EV to kick in. It's a vehicle of two seasons!

I own a 2022 Ultimate Hybrid with Tech Pack - in Red (best colour).
Also have two motorcycles. Honda CB1300 and Honda CBF1000 (also red, of course).

At this time of year there doesn't seem much point in selecting electric mode because as you say the engine is quite likely to start up anyway. I actually prefer to force hybrid mode so that the engine does warm up properly and quickly.
